Pity is a dead end street. Trust me; I know from personal experience. Pity has nothing of real value to offer. It’s a phony promise, snake oil for the self-centered, a placebo for the gullible. There is something strangely alluring about pity – something about wanting people to feel sorry for us that can keep us wallowing in our own need. Instead of fixing the problem or learning to adapt to our problem, we milk it for all the pity we can get. In the end, though, that’s all we have – if that. You see, real pity is usually reserved for those who truly deserve it, but don’t want it and don’t seek it. Pity is a dead end street. Don’t go down that road.
