Oklahoma’s Preventive Approach: Oklahoma has reported a steady decline in children entering its child welfare system over the past decade, attributed to increased collaboration with community partners and a focus on preventive, in-home services. Notably, NorthCare provided prevention-focused services to over 1,000 families in 2024.
CarePortal has played a significant role in Oklahoma’s efforts to reduce the number of children entering the foster care system. Launched in 2016 by the 111Project in collaboration with Oklahoma Human Services (OKDHS), CarePortal connects local churches with child welfare needs in real-time, enabling communities to respond swiftly to support families in crisis.
