I grew up in nearly 40 different places, so change was my normal. While it’s human nature to gravitate toward stability and find security in routine—and I firmly believe children need that—adults are not children. They must confront change and learn to navigate it in mature and productive ways. Embracing change, even when every instinct resists it, is essential. My background gave me a high tolerance for change and undoubtedly led to the development of both effective and less-than-ideal coping mechanisms. Now, as the leader of a nonprofit in a rapidly evolving industry, I encounter change daily. In today’s world, everyone, regardless of profession, must face the reality that change is the new normal. The best way to navigate this is by being securely anchored to what is unchanging, immutable, and timeless: the Rock of Ages. God does not change—nor does He need to.
