The Tide

It seems to me we’ve become a society that would rather worship celebrities than honor heroes. In our media-mad mentally, personality now trumps character. I guess that’s what happens when a nation of doers becomes a nation of spectators. We’ve become a culture that now esteems popularity over truth, where everyone has followers and their worth is measured by the number of likes, hits, and shares they can get, not by their contribution or service to the country. Many have become motivated more by the fear of hurt and rejection than for the search for truth and honor. Just how do we turn this around? Decide today to no longer be a part of the national narcissism. Resolve to swim against the tide. No one has to follow, or like, or share in our counter-cultural protest. Cultures change one person at a time. Let the change start with us.
