Do you believe in soul-mates? A study at the University of Virginia shows those who believe in soul-mates are 150% more likely to end up divorced. That’s a significant finding that makes a whole lot of sense. People who have realistic expectations of marriage are more likely to have better marriages. But, that doesn’t mean soul-mates don’t exist. They do. There are millions of happy marriages to give testimony to that fact. What we have to realize is that soul-mates are not discovered, they are made from years of growing together. They’re the byproduct of shared sacrifice and compromise. Soul-mates are forged from the fire of common pain and heartache, from mutual joy and laughter. You have to put in the years and the hard work. If you expect anything less then you’re just dreaming. And, according to the research, dreaming won’t make a marriage work.
