Other than deciding to follow Christ, the single most important decision any human being will ever make in their lifetime is who they will marry. Choosing the wrong spouse could have all kinds of long-term negative consequences. It can lead to an onslaught of pain and loss including, but not limited to, children being harmed, financial bankruptcy, emotional crisis, physical trauma, spiritual deformity, broken relationships, misguided careers, lost passions, and even stolen identities – a stolen identity of who you were intended to be in Christ. Our society has become far too careless about this critical decision. Without a devout commitment to seeking the kind of love God created us for, we run the risk of settling for a cheap counterfeit and never experiencing the fullness of love. We must get back to the place in our culture where we treat matrimony as the most sacred privilege this side of heaven.
