Love will Suffice

We know for children to be healthy there are certain needs – beyond the basics of food and shelter – which must be met, but children are less likely today to receive these things than two decades ago. For example, children need appropriate physical contact, but everyone is now scared to hug or even touch them. Children need loving discipline and correction, but everyone is now afraid to set limits, to say no and really mean it. Children need to learn morality but everyone is now anxious of offending others. This is crazy. Raising children isn’t easy. But, it isn’t hard either. By that I mean that raising children isn’t that complicated. Yet somehow we have been sold a bill of goods. We’ve been convinced that meeting the needs of children is so complex that it should be left up to the professionals, to government authorities, and to those with specialized degrees. Don’t buy that lie. Common sense, prayer, and unconditional love goes a long way.
