It’s God’s will for us to love. It’s not just a command but it’s His will that we love.
Bill Bright, founder of Campus Crusade for Christ, helped me to understand this simple but profound truth. It’s the will of God that those who walk in faith also love in faith. If you have difficulty in loving others, remember that Jesus has commanded, “Love each other as much as I love you.” It is God’s will for us to love, and He would not command us to do something that He will not enable us to do. I don’t know about you, but I’m incapable of loving others in the way that Christ has loved me. The only way that I will ever be capable of such love is if God enables me. Love must be done by faith just as anything else in our Christian walk. We must claim by faith the privilege -and power – of loving with His love.
