One of the goals of a mature adult is to find balance in all aspects of life. It’s difficult to balance our emotions, but there are certain characteristics that are evident in emotionally healthy people. Emotionally balanced people have values they are willing to defend – a set of strong principles they live by. Emotionally healthy people act upon their best judgments without feeling guilty or regretting their action if another disapproves. They don’t spend undo time worrying about tomorrow or the mistakes they made yesterday. Those with a healthy emotional life retain confidence in their ability to deal with problems and controversy. They feel equal to others; they do not feel inferior or superior. The emotionally balanced are persons of interest and are interested in others. They accept praise without it going to their heads, as well as resist domination by others. And, emotionally balanced people are always sensitive to the needs of others.
