I spent three summers as a counselor. I learned a lot there about ministry – how to serve and how to lead. I’ll always remember a camp tradition that illustrates the influence of attitude. When camp leaders thought the attitudes of campers- or staff – had gone sour, they would yell, “attitude check.” Everyone would scream back, “Praise the Lord!.” That simple act of praising the Lord never failed to readjust our attitudes. Camp leadership understood the power of attitude. They knew a bad attitude can spread like a contagious disease so it should be checked early and often.
