I’m sure you’re familiar with the phrase “Too big to fail.” It’s the belief of political leaders that some industries are so vital to the economic wellbeing of our country that they cannot be allowed to go bankrupt. Some banks are too big to fail. The automakers are too big to fail. I don’t know about all that. I’m convinced though, there’s something in this country too small to fail, something too tiny to ignore: our children. All children come into this world the same – completely helpless. They’re utterly weak and powerless. Their size, age, and immaturity naturally make them easy targets for every social ill and human evil. We cannot fail the children. They need our protection, guidance, focus, and resources. We can’t allow them to be morally bankrupt, intellectually deficient, or emotionally damaged. Their well-being will determine the future of this nation, and that is too big to fail.
