Vulnerability is hard. And, scary. Few of us are willing to truly expose our thoughts and feelings. According to Dr. Brene’ Brown – who’s done extensive research on the subject – being vulnerable is exactly what we need to do to be healthy. She says, “Vulnerability is the core, the heart, the center of meaningful human experience.” Vulnerability is the art of being uncalculating, the willingness to look foolish. It’s the staple of creativity and the substance of authentic leadership. Vulnerability is also the very essence of romance; it’s the glue that holds healthy relationships together. Without vulnerability, there is no genuine community. To truly be happy, we must accept the truth that vulnerability is not weakness – it is strength.
