Those of us struggling with an antagonizing orphan spirit have a strong need to be needed. We hopelessly want to be wanted. So, we will craft relationships, especially if we have power and authority, in such a way as to ensure our inner needs are met. It’s a dysfunctional way to live, and it’s not a good way to treat people. It’s a particularly dangerous dynamic if it’s the leader of a religious organization. Dysfunction is a choice. So is wellness.
