People who aren’t whole – who are hurting emotionally – often seek after romantic relationships in order to fill a void in their heart. They have a deep need to be loved and feel loved. Of course, it’s never the answer, especially for the other person being used as a type of psychotropic medication. The reason is rather obvious. Hurting people tend to hurt other people, especially the ones closest to them. Relationships built on this type of faulty foundation will usually end badly, and when they do, it only adds to their pain and sense of desperation. The rebound relationship will be twice as bad. Without the security of God’s love, there’ll always be something missing that the romantic relationship will never be able to provide.
