Secret of Delight

Charles Kingsley said, “If you want to be miserable think of yourself, about what you want, what you like, what respect people ought to pay you, and what people think of you.” That pretty much sums up the problem. As our society has become more self-focused and self-absorbed, we have become more disjointed in our spirits. We’ve been told that self-fulfillment is the path to happiness; however the truth is just the opposite. It’s when we turn our eyes from ourselves and toward exalting God, and serving others, that we find the secret of delight. The promise of self-fulfillment is snake oil for the selfish soul.
