Lowly Valley

Which do you prefer?  Seeing the mountain from down in the valley? Or the valley from the top of the mountain? Both are beautiful. The best way to see the mountain is from the valley. The best way to appreciate the valley is from the mountain. One serves to glorify the other. Metaphorically, which do you prefer? Mountain or valley? Spiritually we speak of the mountain being a good place, and the valley bad. Three disciples witnessed the transfiguration of Jesus on the mountain. It was so grand they wanted to stay, but Jesus wouldn’t allow it. The need was in the valley, and that’s where they would go. Jesus was compelled to leave the mountain top of Heaven’s glory for the lowly valley of human misery. Experiencing the face of God in worship means nothing, if we don’t live in the presence of fallen humanity.
