Parents take courage! You are the expert when it comes to your own child. No one can do it better than you. They are your children. They were entrusted to you by God. You know them better, and love them more, than anyone else on the face of the earth. This doesn’t mean you are a perfect parent or that you’ll never make any mistakes. You most certainly will. It does mean that more than anyone else, you care about the well-being and success of your children, and therefore are the best qualified to make decisions on their behalf. Never let anyone ever convince you otherwise. There’s nothing wrong with learning from others. However, in order to be empowered, you must learn to recognize when others overstep their bounds and when it may be appropriate—and even better—to trust your instincts and judgment.
