We are a culture that majors on minors, a society that’s become engrossed by insignificant and trifling matters. We make idols out of those who can sing or act, even if their lifestyle is immoral and outrageous. We pay disgraceful sums of money to those who have no character but can throw, catch, or bounce a ball. Worse yet, we obsess over the possibility that the slightest rule was broken in a sporting event while turning a blind eye to high crimes and misdemeanors committed by truly powerful people that do their dirty deeds in the name of public services.
